Colombia begins the second half of 2020 with the desire to reactive the economy, while giving special attention to the increase in cases in Bogotá, Cali, Barranquilla and Cartagena. In these cities the number of available ICU beds are approaching the limit. It is possible Colombia is entering the high peak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The annual inflation index came in at 2.19%, well below the 3.43% from the previous period.

On July 3, Colombia celebrated the second tax free holiday, “a day without VAT” and the country broke a record never seen before on online sales. According to the data provided by the Colombian Chamber of Electronic Commerce, it grew by 330% compared to July 5, 2019.

In order to allow domestic flights to restart, the director of the Colombian Civil Aeronautics division stated that the division had begun the process of visiting each of the airports of the most important cities in order to verify compliance with security protocols. The division reports it  is making progress in implementing the guidelines.
