In the first half of 2025, Mexico welcomed approximately 23.4 million international visitors — a 7.3% increase year-on-year and 6.2% above 2019 levels.

This tourism uptick has been driven by the renewed influx of travelers from the U.S. and Canada, and the swift recovery of beach destinations post-pandemic. According to Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, “tourism continues to grow and strengthen its contribution to our economy thanks to coordinated efforts with the private sector and all levels of government.”

Notably, while Mexico posts gains, the U.S.—once the leading global tourism magnet—is experiencing a downturn in international arrivals. Industry experts point to stricter visa regimes, currency headwinds and eroding global perception as key factors.
