Up to 400 new jobs could be created in Mexico thanks to Dutch investment projects that, despite global trade uncertainties, continue to view the country as a strategic destination. At least 10 investment projects from the Netherlands are underway in key states such as Querétaro, Jalisco, and Nuevo León, targeting the automotive manufacturing, technology, and protected agriculture sectors.
Querétaro will host new manufacturing plants
In Querétaro, two Dutch manufacturing companies are set to begin operations: one in the automotive industry, and another focused on producing TV mounts. Combined, these investments could reach 30 to 40 million euros and generate between 300 and 400 direct jobs. One of the companies is already in the installation phase, while the other is expected to start operations in May.
Currently, approximately 50 Dutch companies are already operating in Querétaro, making it a strategic hub for European investment, especially in technological and agricultural innovation.
Mexico’s advantages keep Dutch interest high
Steven Büter, representative of the Netherlands Business Office at the Dutch Embassy in Mexico, highlighted that Dutch companies invest with a long-term vision (30–40 years), which allows them to sustain projects despite challenges like the 25% tariffs imposed by the U.S.
Mexico’s appeal lies in its skilled labor, strategic location, and production-friendly environment. Additionally, the protected agriculture sector—where the Netherlands is a global leader—sees Mexico as fertile ground for sustainable expansion.
Nuevo León and Quintana Roo: top destinations for Dutch capital
From 2006 to 2024, Nuevo León received the most Dutch investment in Mexico, totaling $5.132 billion USD (32.2% of the total), followed by Quintana Roo with 11.3%, reinforcing the Netherlands’ role as a key economic partner for Mexico in high-value sectors.
