Joining the decision making of the current administration of the Federal Government, to bet on rail systems as means of transportation, the company TMsourcing, presented an unsolicited proposal to the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) to build a train that joins the capital of the country with the Bajío.
The unit agreed to review the plan, which is the reason Guanajuato’s authorities have also declared themselves open to its construction.
The project plans to use existing roads under concession to Ferromex, to build a 416-kilometer route with 12 stations between Mexico City and Querétaro, which makes stops in Silao, Irapuato, Salamanca, Celaya, San Juan del Río, Tula and Huehuetoca, in addition to Buenavista as terminal.
The company that made the proposal considers that the project could also join the Suburban Train and, in this way, have a more direct connection with the Santa Lucía airport.
If accepted, this 2022, 80 million pesos would be required for studies, and later 50,000 million pesos more will be needed for infrastructure.
It is estimated that it would be used by 40,000 people daily and would connect 30 million in five metropolitan areas of the country.
